Cozumel, Mexico – Photography Gone Bad – Daily Photo
by chris2x ↓ Add commentscategories: mexico travel

This week I have been looking at photos that did not turn out the way that I intended. Making sure the shot is in focus is still the number one issue that I run into, but framing is probably the hardest to learn. The photo above is one I took in Cozumel last year and it is not a bad photograph but it is a bit boring.
In this case I took two shots and I framed the second shot with more sky and less water.

It is still not Ansel Adams but I think the second shot is more interesting. For me there is more tension in the second photograph for where my eye should focus.

thanks for posting these! As someone who struggles with photography, it’s so helpful to have the what-to-do example next to the what-not-to-do example! Mind you I think both photos are fabulous and would be proud if they were mine

I do like the second one better….more action in the clouds and more contrast in colors. The beauty of digital is that it is so easy to take multiple images for comparison, but the danger is overwhelming images…I am struggling with that right now. I must get better about editing and deleting images.
